The regular Greenwich Highlights Tours (Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat 12.30pm, adults £14, under 13s free) always start from the canon outside the Visitor Centre at the Old Royal Naval College, 2 Cutty Sark Gardens, Greenwich, SE10 9LW. This walk will introduce you to the historic tea clipper the Cutty Sark, the baroque masterpiece of the Old Royal Naval College, the Queen’s House representing the former Royal Palace at Greenwich, the unique National Maritime Museum, the glorious Royal Park and Royal Observatory and its crucial role in the discovery of longitude and the Greenwich zero degree Meridian.

Literatours
Literatours offers literary walking tours of Southwark, where there is an important historical spot around almost every corner. Their guides live and work in the area and are all writers and artists who are passionate about the literary history of London and keen to share that. They are also performers and give a literary flourish to tours, with readings and excerpts from the works of the great interspersed with historical story-telling. They currently run a classic tour of the literary history of Southwark three times a day, 10-11am (£10), 11.30am-1pm (£20), 2-3.30pm (£20). The tour is a gentle ramble around Southwark that takes in the haunts of Shakespeare, Dickens, Keats and Chaucer, with references to Zadie Smith, Oscar Wilde and others. They start outside the George Tavern on Borough High Street and end beside Shakespeare’s Globe by the River Thames.

Woolwich Works guided tours
Woolwich Works’ architectural award-winning Grade II and II* listed heritage buildings date back over 300 years and have some amazing stories to tell. You will be led around a variety of historic spaces and hear stories from the building’s past like London’s first fireworks displays, visits from Kings and Queens, Suffragette protests and more. The tour also shows how the building has been restored and how it’s used today. The tour is free and lasts approximately 45 minutes.
